Ice Water Rescue Program

KEY CONSIDERATIONS

In Canada an average of 200 people die every year due to cold water immersion. Cold water immersion deaths occur during recreational activities, such as fishing, snowmobiling and skating, as well as amongst commercial workers involved in ice roads and winter mining projects.

Canadian OnSite's Ice Water Rescue Program will provide the participants with the knowledge to recognize all ice dangers and with the techniques to safely rescue victims from the ice. Students will participate in in-classroom learning, will go through self-rescue drills using various tools and techniques, and will be involved in numerous rescue scenerios. This program, conforming to NFPA 1670 standards, is designed for rescue professionals and for workers who may be called upon in emergent rescue situations. Upon successful completion, the student will be trained as an Ice Water Rescue Technician and will be able to be an active Ice Water Rescue Team Member.
